Our Management Team

Production Supervisor

In 2004, I had taken a course in perennial garden design and really enjoyed it, so when I read an ad in the newspaper for part time seasonal employment at Creekside Nursery, I went in to apply.  Being a stay at home mom of 3 boys, who were now in school, it was time for me to do something for me. My part time seasonal, turned into a full time seasonal, and when my predecessor left Creekside, I was given the opportunity to step in as production supervisor. I love watching the flowers grow and I take great pride in delivering our customers the best product I can.

Owner, President & General Manger

Dennis was born in Fort William, Ontario (now Thunder Bay). As a youngster, his love of plants developed very quickly as he worked helping his parents, Buck and Inez Trevisanutto, growing vegetables and flowers on their small farm. After Elementary School, Dennis attended Port Arthur Collegiate Institute where he excelled in many sports, especially football. After high school, he played for the Port Arthur Mustangs and in 1959 had an opportunity to play professional football with the Saskatchewan Roughriders, but decided to come home and marry his high school sweetheart and join the Port Arthur Police Department where he served seventeen years. Dennis and his wife Louise founded Creekside Nursery in 1974. It all started with a greenhouse measuring only 1200 sq. ft. with only the family (Dennis, Louise, Dennis Jr., Joseph and Leanne) on staff. Today the operation has grown to approx. 80,000 square feet of greenhouse with office/warehouse/staff rooms and a full Garden Centre and employees up to 40 in high season. Sadly, Joseph who was VP Production succumbed to cancer in 2000. Leanne is still involved in the business, in the position of VP. In his career, Dennis has been president of the John St. 4H Club, President of the Port Arthur Mustang Football Organization, Director of the Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce, and member of many other organizations. Dennis enjoys playing Bridge and Chess whenever he has the opportunity.

Trees, Shrubs, Perennials & Ponds Supervisor

My life and careers have always been around this industry. I grew up in my Mom's flower shop and became a florist myself. Love of gardening brought me to love of water gardening. I Worked as a florist for 25 years, owned a water gardening business for 11 years and have been with Creekside since 2009, working alongside the best crew.

Retail Garden Centre Supervisor

I started at Creekside in 2002. I was straight out of high school and looking for a job until I made up my mind on what I wanted to do in life. Turns out I fell in love with my job and the people I work alongside. I have worked in most areas in the nursery and it’s a rewarding process to see what all our hard work, start to finish accomplishes.

Owner (retired)

I was born in Holland, so sometimes people assume I am the one with greenhouse business in my blood. Nothing could be further from the truth. I had never been in a greenhouse until I met my husband, Dennis. Village Market Garden, owned by his parents, was my first experience in the business. We helped a lot there in our early married days and beyond, going to the market on Wilson Street and the Fort William Curling Club. In 1974, Dennis and I established Creekside on Woodcrest Road. There were seven nurseries in the area at the time. I’ve learned a lot and enjoyed meeting all our customers, many who have become friends. In retirement, I’ve enjoyed traveling, making beaded jewelry and, most of all, spending time with Drew, our doggie.

Vice President

I grew up in the greenhouses of Creekside and have worked here most of my life. In my school years I did just about every nursery job you can imagine: watering, seeding, transplanting, pulling weeds under benches, designing hanging baskets, delivering poinsettias, operating cash registers and literally hundreds of other tasks. After graduating from Lakehead University with an Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree, I spent more time in the office handling the administrative duties (accounting, marketing, human resources) for 20 years until accepting a full-time job with the City of Thunder Bay in 2016. I still work part-time at Creekside, looking after the bookkeeping.

Operations Manager

My adventure began at Creekside in the spring of 1998 with a position in trees and shrubs where I was able to share my knowledge that I recently learned in my college studies. Upon graduation from Sir Sanford Fleming with degrees in Forestry and Horticulture, I found myself back at Creekside, but in a full time position. My passion and knowledge for the industry continues to grow each spring and I love to share this with our customers. I am now married with two young girls who are fascinated with flowers and gardening as much as me.

Moral Support

Drew is 8 years old. He loves and is loved by his family. He enjoys his daily walks to Creekside with his Nana (Louise), where he can see all his Creekside friends working in the greenhouse and greet all the customers. Drew's favourite happyplace is laying on Nana's or Papa's lap at his home.
